Slow moving severe storms dropped large hail with strong winds and even a tornado. Area weather spotters reported three inch diameter hail in Haskell County and the ground was reported completely covered in hail ranging from golf ball to tennis ball size in Texas County about seven miles northwest of Turpin. Nickel to quarter sized hail was reported in Liberal. A spotter observed a tornado touching down briefly two miles southeast of Satanta at 8:55 PM. Winds from 60-70 miles per hour accompanied these storms.
