Junction City Scores Three in Eighth to Sink BJ’s

KSCB News - July 24, 2009 12:00 am

It was a non league game but a 7-6 loss which still had to sting. The BJ’s seemed to have turned their season around with six straight wins. That streak was bound to end sometime, but the way Liberal lost at Junction City Thursday night had to be frustrating for the team who traveled five hours to play. Liberal led until the eighth inning when they coughed up three runs and allowed the go ahead run on a passed ball in a 7-6 loss at Junction City Thursday night. The BJ’s scored four in the first and led 6-4 going to the eighth. Chandler-Gilbert’s Aaron Mees blasted his third homer and also doubled. Lubbock Christian’s Tanner Rindels was 2-5 with a double. Louisiana Tech’s Alex Williams was 2-4 with a double. New Mexico Junior College’s Josh Reyes pitched three scoreless innings in the loss. Liberal is 23-17 overall and plays the Generals again Friday night at 7:00 PM.
