Bee Jays-A’s Suspended Game Could Become Official

KSCB News - July 15, 2009 12:00 am

The Liberal Bee Jays game at Dodge City Tuesday that was suspended due to lighting could become official giving the Bee Jays an 8-2 victory.

Several members of the Bee Jays board of directors reviewed the Jayhawk League rule book on Wednesday including General Manager Bob Carlile, and Manager Mike Hargrove.

The rule book states that if a team takes the lead in an inning that a weather delay occurs that it must be suspended. The Bee Jays did score in the eighth inning right before the lighting delay began, however they already had a 6-2 lead heading into the inning.

According to the Bee Jays they feel like by rule that the game should be ruled an official game which would give the Bee Jays an 8-2 victory.

The Bee Jays informed the A’s as a courtesy on Wednesday that they plan to contact the Commissioner of the Jayhawk League to ask him to make a ruling on rather or not the game remains suspended to be made up or if the game should be ruled official.
