K-144 Resurfacing Ready to Start

KSCB News - July 15, 2009 12:00 am

The Kansas Department of Transportation expects a resurfacing project on K-144 in Haskell and Gray counties to begin by Wednesday, July 22. The project runs from the junction of K-144 and US-83 in Haskell County, east to the junction of K-144 and US-56 in Gray County, a distance of 17 miles. Road crews will grind off the top one inch of the existing asphalt surface and recycle half of that material into the new two-inch asphalt surface.

Traffic will be reduced to one lane through the work zone, guided by a pilot car. Drivers can expect delays of 15 minutes or less. The Kansas DOT urges drivers to pay attention to warning signs, slow down and drive cautiously through the work zone.

KDOT expects this project to be completed by mid-October, weather permitting. APAC-Kansas, Inc., Shears Division of Hutchinson, Kansas, is the primary contractor on this approximately $2 million project.
