SWMC Introduces New Check-In Process

KSCB News - July 17, 2015 8:19 am

Patients arriving at Southwest Medical Center for medical services or admission have more convenient access to their registration following a new check-in system installed this week.

New check-in kiosks located in the front lobby at Southwest Medical Center allow patients to check-in by entering their name on a simple touch-screen monitor. Once a patient’s name is submitted at check-in, SWMC’s admissions team receives real-time notification that a patient is ready for their registration.

Patients are also able to view their name or a confidential assigned number on a screen in the waiting room area. The screen displays names or confidential numbers in order of check-in time, so admissions clerks can welcome patients for their registration in order of arrival.

“This system has been created to improve the patient experience at Southwest Medical Center,” SWMC President and CEO, Bill Ermann, said. “Using this new system allows our team to keep better track over which patient is up next for their registration, even if a team member has stepped away from the lobby to direct or assist our patients and visitors.”

The system is designed not only to keep patient waiting times to a minimum, but to enhance patient privacy as well. Patients have control over whether or not their name appears on a waiting room monitor when they submit their name in the check-in kiosk.

Patients can use these check-in kiosks during normal registration hours from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday, with the exception of holidays. Registration on weekends, evenings, and holidays takes place at the emergency department’s admission desk.
