City Commission Meets, Approves Purchases

The Liberal City Commission met Tuesday evening at 6:30pm for their regularly scheduled meeting. Among the items on the agenda, the commission approved the 1st and final reading of Ordinance 4456 which sets the areas of City propoerty where consumption of cereal malt beverage will be allowed. This was approved with the following areas designated: The Golf Course, Mid America Air Museum, Arkalon Park, National Beef Family Sports Complex in designated areas only, soccer fields and asult softball fields, Mahuron Park, and Blue Bonnet Park. Although this was approved, it will be revisited with the parks to be discussed.

The Commission also approved the purchase of 8 pagers for the Fire Department, approved the replacement of an air conditioning unit for the Police Department, and approved the purchase of 2 ice machines for the Recreation Department with the funds for the machines for a local donation.

The City Commission will meet Thursday at 7:00am to start the City Budget process for 2016.
