Liberal Police Make Arrest In Aggravated Assault

On Thursday, May 14, 2015 at about 2:40 a.m., officers were dispatched to 25 South Pershing Avenue for a report of someone being shot. An 18 year old female reported that she believed one of her roommates was shot.

Responding officers located a 24 year old male and a 17 year old female at the residence. Neither person was injured. Investigating officers learned that the 24 year old male and 17 year old female had been involved in a domestic dispute when the male brandished a gun. Their roommate left the residence during the altercation and called police.

During the initial investigation, investigating officers located evidence of drug activity in the home. A search warrant was served at the residence. A firearm, a quantity of marijuana and methamphetamine were seized.

The male was arrested and booked into the Seward County Jail. An affidavit was sent to the Seward County Attorney seeking charges of aggravated assault, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and charges related to the possession and sale of drugs. The 17 year old female was arrested and taken to the Juvenile Detention Center. An affidavit was forwarded to the Seward County Attorney seeking charges related to the possession and sale of drugs.

The investigation of this incident is ongoing.
