City Commission Meets, Recognizes Police Officers

KSCB News - January 14, 2015 8:19 am

The Liberal City Commission met Tuesday evening and recognized members of the Police Department. After a Proclamation was read declaring January 9th as Law Enforcement Appreciation Day throughout the State of Kansas, Police Chief Al Sill, presented three of his officers to the Commission with Commendations for their service. Recognized were Sergeant Mark West as The Supervisor of the Year, Detective Jason Ott as The Officer of the Year, and Jim Crosier as Employee of the Year. Chief Sill also presented the Commission and City Manager Mark Hall with certificates of appreciation for their support of the Liberal Police Department.

With a light agenda before them, the Commisioners adopted Ordinance 4446 which prohibits oil and gas drilling within the city limits of Liberal, and Ordinance 4447which puts the set back for the sale and consumption of alcohol near a school, church, or hospital, to the lesser restrictive state statutes.

The Commission also adopted Ordinance 4448 which, due to Liberals mail now being sent to Amarillo for processing, increases the number of days from which a utility bill is due, from 15 to 20 days.
