USD 480 Board Watches AVID Tutorial at Board Meeting

The USD 480 Board of Education saw Liberal High School’s AVID students strut their stuff at Monday night’s meeting. LHS sophomores in the AVID program performed a tutorial to demonstrate to the board how the AVID program works. AVID stands for advancement via individual determination. Liberal High School is a national AVID demonstration school meaning other schools from the country are using LHS is a model for how to run an AVID program.

The board also voted to buy new ipads for students in the school district. Based on requests from the technology committee, the board voted to purchase 97 new ipads and three carts for just over 54 thousand dollars. The school breakdown is as follows:

Lincoln- 12 iPads

Southlawn- 25 iPads and one cart

Washington pre K- 10 iPads

Sunflower- 10 iPads and 1 cart

West- 30 iPads and 1 cart

LHS- 10 iPads
