Baker Arts Center Offers January Workshops

Fingers and Toes

The Baker Arts Center’s January Preschool workshop for ages 3-5 features small artists using tiny fingers to explore color as they paint with fingers and painting tools to create texture on paper and cardboard. Tiny toes will also squish the paint on large paper to stomp out foot paintings. Finger plays and musical activities accompany this arts experience. Class meets Wednesdays on January 7, 14, 21, 28 from 11:00am to 12:00 noon. Cost is $15.00 for members and $20.00 for nonmembers. Class size is limited.

Cave Art

K-6th Grades

Art at its start. The Baker Arts Center’s January workshop for kindergarten through 6th grade students introduces Cave Art. Students will study examples of pre-historic cave art from Art History and create their own with natural pigments made from mashed berries and other plant materials. Other items from nature such as burnt sticks for charcoal and artists hands and fingers will apply the pigments. They will paint on simulated cave walls such as cardboard, plaster board, or clay tiles. Class meets Wednesdays- Jan. 7, 14, 21, 28 from 3:45 to 4:45 pm. Cost is $15.00 for members and $20.00 for nonmembers. Call 624-2810 to enroll. The center is located at 624 N. Pershing in Liberal.
