City Commission Meets, Accepts Grants and Gifts Awards

The Liberal City Commission met Tuesday night for their regularly scheduled meeting with a relativly light agenda. The meeting kicked off with three Proclamations being read. The first was Proclaiming November 1st, National Literacy Day, the second Proclaimed November as National American Indian Heritage Month. These were accepted by Bonnie Raff. The third Proclaimed October as National Disability Employment Awareness Month for the month of October throughout the City. Staff from Mosaic accepted this Proclamation.

In action items before the Commission, the commission moved to a Second Reading, a rezone of a parcel of property from Commercial to Residential and accepted a grant award from the Liberal Coalition of Families in the amount of $12,870 to start a Healthy Initiatives Policy and the Coalition will work with the Recreation Department to implement this grant. The Commission also accepted a donation of $4,237.40 from Milk Source LLC to purchase 8 Hy-Conn hose adapters for the Liberal Fire Department. After a 15 minute Executive Session, the Commission voted to give City Manager Mark Hall a 3% raise which is in line with what other employees throughout the City received this year,

The next meeting of the Liberal City Commission will be November 11th.
