KSCB News - July 8, 2014 9:11 pm

Agents with the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation are investigating a homicide after a man died from a head injury in the small panhandle town of Tyrone, Oklahoma.

According to police, on June 30, an employee at Jim’s Auto & Salvage on Highway 54 found the owner, 70-year-old James Edward Vitkowski, lying on the floor inside the business.

Vitkowski was transported to a local hospital and then flown to a Kansas hospital. Tuesday morning, he died from what appears to be blunt force trauma to the head, according to the OSBI.

Agents said Vitkowski’s body will be transported to the Medical Examiner’s office in Oklahoma City, for an autopsy. At this time, authorities have not arrested anyone. Agents are working to determine the motive behind the assault.

If you have any information, call the OSBI at 1-800-522-8017.
