Oklahoma State lefty Brett Davis (2-2) pitched seven shutout innings striking out six in a 7-0 win over the Colorado Renegades (7-6) Sunday night at Brent Gould Field. Newcomers Diego Soto of Emporia State and fourth round draft pick Randy Henry of South Mountain pitched the eighth and ninth respectively. Liberal scored in the first when Wichita State’s Mitch Caster singled home Lubbock Christian’s Tanner Rindels. In the second, USC’s Mike Greco hit a sacrifice fly. Pepperdine’s Torrey Jacoby blasted his second homer in the third. Jacoby added an RBI in the fourth. Lamar’s Stephen Tucker drove home a run on a ground out in the fifth. Caster would also score on a double-steal. A Greco double and subsequent error would lead to another run in the eighth. Liberal is 12-11. The Bee Jays host the Renegades again Monday night at 7:00 PM. Scantlin’s Furniture is the buyout sponsor. They will give away at 100 dollar gift certificate to the store which will double if someone hits the Scantlin’s sign in the outfield. They will give away cash prizes as well.
