Liberal City Commission Meets, Purchases Pick Up

The Liberal City Commission met Tuesday evening at 6:30pm for their regularly scheduled meeting. Among the items on the agenda, the Commission moved to a second reading an ordinance that would rezone a parcel of property west of Liberal from commercial to residential, The property is owned by Jack Call and is in the vicinity of old Highway 54. Also the Commission approved the purchase of a pick up for the Wastewater Treatment Department from Foss Ford of Liberal in the amount of $21, 762.00.This replaces a vehicle that was purchase in 1990. Commissioners also approved the purchase of trash bags for the Solid Waste Department, appointed Jay Bhakta to a 4 year term on the Convention and Tourism Board, approved grazing rights at Arkalon Park to Max Louderback, and approved repairs to the 7th Street gate at the airport. Superior Fencing of Dodge City will do the work. After a 15 minute Exwcutive Session, the Commission gave staff the permission to pursue a letter of intent and a confidentiality agreement for Economic Development. The commission will meet in Executive Session Wednesday evening at 5:30pm
