480 Board Votes 4-2 for Sale of Bonds for New Schools

KSCB News - April 22, 2014 5:58 am

It wasn’t unanimous, but the USD 480 school board voted 4-2 to authorize the sale of bonds for school construction. The move is another step in the construction of Liberal’s five new schools and improvements to other schools in the district. Piper Jaffray will sell USD 480’s bond and the vote gives them authority to begin that process.

The board also accepted the resignation of board member Crystal Clemmons at Monday night’s meeting. Her husband has been transferred to Amarillo so her resignation is effective May 19. The board will advertise the vacancy and appoint someone to fill the vacancy until the next election next April. That means five positions will be up for grabs next spring instead of four. There will be four board members elected to four year terms and one board member elected to a two year term next April of 2015 and beginning that service to the board in June of 2015.
