Former Liberal Banker Gets Governors Appointment

Kansas Governor Sam Brownback today announced Deryl Schuster as the new Acting Bank Commissioner effective March 19. Schuster was most recently President and CEO of Midwest Community Bank. He received his bachelor’s degree from Southwestern College in Winfield, KS.

“Deryl has a tremendous amount of experience in banking and lending,” said Governor Brownback. “His knowledge will serve him well in his new role as Acting Bank Commissioner.”

Judi Stork, has served as Acting Bank Commissioner since November 2013. She will return to her previous position as Deputy Bank Commissioner.

“I appreciate the role Judi has stepped up to fill during these past few months,” said Governor Brownback. “I know she will help Deryl to make a smooth transition into his new role.”

The State Bank Commissioner regulates all state-chartered banks and trust companies, saving and loan companies, mortgage businesses, supervised lenders, and money transmitters. With the Banking Board as an advisor, the Bank Commissioner ensures the safety and soundness of state-chartered financial institutions.
