The Liberal City Commission Meets, Accepts Grant For 4 New City Buses

The Liberal City Commission met Tuesday night for their regular meeting. On the agenda, the Commission approved 4 Environmental Abatement throughout the City, and entered into discussion with one property owner, Cliff Abbott. The City and Abbott agreed, every 30 days the City would monitor his clean up progress and as long as adequate progress was being made, the City would not step in and clean up his property and charge him for the cleanup. Also adopted were vehicle abatements, and the new 2014 Fee Structure for City. There were several changes made to some programs and facilities and these would be published in the paper, and would be available at City Hall. Commissioners approved the purchase of a new Computer Server for the Recreation Department in the amount of $4,096 and approved the purchase of an ADA compiant passenger ramp for the airport. The amount of the ramp was $25,000.00 plus transportation cost. City Commissioners also approved the acceptance of a 2014-2015 Transit Grant from KDOT in the amount of $431,365 for the purchase and operating expenses of 4 new buses for the City which would add another route to the City Bus System. The City’s match would be $112,284.00. Commissioners also discussedTransient Merchants & Temporary Food Establishments and fees they remit. This will be further discussed in the near future. The next City Commission meeting is scheduled for Wednesday March 26th.
