Elderly Woman Beaten, Robbed In Garden City

KSCB News - March 7, 2014 12:41 pm

Police are looking for a suspect who beat and robbed an elderly woman yesterday in Garden City.

It began Thursday afternoon as a 76-year-old woman was leaving a Dillons store in the 1300 block of East Kansas in Garden City.

As she was walking through the parking lot, another woman approached asking for a ride. The other agreed and drove her to an unknown street in the northern part of town. As soon as she stopped the car, police say the suspect began hitting the older woman over the head with a grocery bag containing several canned goods. The suspect then took the woman’s purse, which contained about $86.

EMS treated the 76-year-old for wounds to her head and hand.

Police are looking for a white female in her 20s, about 5-feet, 5-inches tall who weighs approximately 200 pounds. She has shoulder-length blond hair, blue eyes and was wearing a blue t-shirt.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Garden City Police Department at (620) 276-1300.
