Woman Accused Of Defrauding Social Security

A Garden City woman has been charged in federal court in Wichita with defrauding Social Security.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office says 25-year-old Marla R. McDonald is accused of making false statements to receive about $17,500 in Social Security Administration child survivor’s benefits she wasn’t entitled to.
The crime is said to have occurred in September of 2011. If convicted, she faces up to five years in federal prison and a fine up to $250,000.
