Weiser Responds To K-State Audit

KSCB News - June 23, 2009 12:00 am

Former Kansas State athletic director Tim Weiser says most of what he found in a university audit released by the Board Regents was accurate. He says he was not paid any money beyond what he was owed to him through agreements with the school.

The audit, released on Friday, revealed numerous instances of questionable transactions during the administration of retiring university president Jon Wefald, including a $500,000 loan to Weiser.

Weiser said in a statement that the loan was for the purchase of real estate at an above-market interest rate of 10 percent. He said the loan and approximately $25,000 in interest were repaid when he left the school last year.

Weiser also said all payments to him and football coach Bill Snyder were made through appropriate channels
