Wheat Harvest Kicks in Gear

WICHITA, Kan. (AP) – Kansas farmers are starting to get their

combines back into the field after weekend rain slowed the wheat

harvest.

Kansas Wheat reported in its daily harvest report Monday night

that more than 400,000 bushels have already been taken in at the

Elkhart Cooperative Eqity Exchange. Test weights have ranged from

58 to 63 pounds per bushel.

Harvest is slow around Great Bend. The Great Bend Co-op Associal

reports only 30,000 bushels have been taken in. All of that was cut

before the weekend rains. Test weights have been hoovering at

around 60 pounds per bushel.

Harvest has not yet started in Scott City.
