City Of Liberal Implements Emergency Accident Reporting

KSCB News - December 5, 2013 7:44 pm

The City of Liberal will be implementing the emergency accident reporting due to the weather and road conditions until the on duty watch commander determines driving conditions are back to acceptable levels. The following accidents will be the only ones taken at call time:

1) Injury or fatality accidents;

2) Accidents/incidents involving disabled vehicles in the roadway;

3) Accidents involving suspected impaired drivers.

All other follow the rules below.

During declared emergencies, officers will only complete the minimum reporting requirements of the Kansas Motor Vehicle Accident Report and the DC-66 Kansas Motor Vehicle Insurance Information form, unless investigating serious injury or fatal accidents.

Individuals reporting accidents other than those listed previously will be advised to exchange driver insurance and vehicle information. Both drivers will be asked to come together to the Liberal Police Department within 48 hours to file the accident report.
