Area Communities Rally To Support Injured Satanta Player

KSCB News - September 12, 2013 9:11 pm

Days after a Satanta high school player is injured at a football game, thousands of people are showing off their support.

More than 2,000 people have liked the "Team Anthony Crump" Facebook Page in support of the freshman.

Satanta High School principal Mark Calvin says Anthony was severely hurt during a football game against Goodwell/Yarbrough last Friday. Anthony, a member of the special teams, was preparing for kickoff. He was tackled and suffered a concussion, a spine fracture and a spinal cord injury, among other injuries.

As of Thursday morning, Calvin said Anthony was transported from Wesley Medical Center in Wichita to a hospital in Chicago, where the teenager will focus on rehabilitation.

In the meantime, area high schools, including his own, plan to "green out" their next football team by wearing green t-shirts to support Anthony. There are also several fundraisers to help the family with medical expenses.

Santana High School plays its first home game against Moscow on Friday, Sept. 13. Kickoff is at 7 p.m. The game will air live on 102.7 The Legend
