Fmr. Rep.Weber Staying Involved At Local And State Levels

KSCB News - August 11, 2013 9:33 pm

Former state Rep. Brian Weber wasted little time jumping back into community service since moving to Garden City from Dodge City in June.

Earlier this week, Gov. Sam Brownback appointed Weber to the Citizens’ Utility Ratepayer Board and the Citizens’ Regulatory Review Board. In addition to the statewide board,

Weber was appointed by the Garden City Commission on Tuesday to the planning commission, a joint commission of Garden City, Finney County and Holcomb.

"I’m excited for both," Weber said. "When I resigned from the Legislature and moved to Garden, I was hoping to stay involved. I enjoy public service, and that’s one of the reasons I applied for the planning commission. I like to be involved."

Weber represented the 119th District, comprised of north Dodge City and northeast Ford County, in the Kansas House of Representatives for three years. Prior to that, the Republican served on the Dodge City Commission for three years as a commissioner and as vice mayor.

Weber stepped down from the Legislature following this year’s session and moved to Garden City to be more involved in the Garden City branch of Weber Refrigeration & Heating Inc., a family business he co-owns.
