KSCB News - August 6, 2013 8:58 pm

The public is invited to a Volunteer Fair and Barbecue from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, August 15, at the Randall Girl Scout Cabin in Light Park, Liberal. Free grilled pork burgers, chips, cookies and drinks will be available to all participants, thank to Seaboard Foods .

“This is a great opportunity for individuals who are interested in helping out their community to find out about the options for volunteering with 12 local non-profit organizations,” said Kay Burtzloff, director of the Seward County United Way. The volunteer fair is being sponsored by the Girl Scouts of Kansas Heartland, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and the local United Way as well as Seaboard Foods’ generous food contribution.

“Every participant who signs up with an agency as a prospective volunteer will get a ticket to put in a drawing for a $25 Chamber Gift Certificate and we’ve got 10 of them to give away thanks to an anonymous donor,” Burtzloff said.

Organizations that will be represented at the Volunteer Fair will include the Big Brothers Big Sisters, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, 4-H, Seward County Health Department, Original Town of Liberal Revitalization, USD 480 After School Programs, Senior Citizens Center, American Red Cross, Stepping Stone (Homeless) Shelter, Mosaic and the Seward County United Way.
