Teen Abduction Attempt Thwarted

KSCB News - June 18, 2013 12:59 pm

The Dodge City Police Department is looking for a suspect who reportedly tried to abduct a teenager over the weekend.

Around 10:30 Sunday morning, a 16-year-old girl was walking in the 1100 block of 3rd Avenue in Dodge City when an SUV drove up. According to police, the man inside tried to force the teen into his vehicle, but was interrupted by another bystander in the area and quickly drove away.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic man in his early 20s, about 5 feet, 8 inches tall, weighed around 150 pounds, with a muscular build and a very dark complexion. He had black hair that was shaved on the sides of his head and spiked on top. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a blue t-shirt with a white logo, black jeans and black tennis shoes. He also spoke with a heavy accent indicative that Spanish was his primary language.

He was driving an early 2000s model Chevrolet Suburban with chrome wheels and tinted windows with an unknown Kansas license plate.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Dodge City Police Department at (620) 225-8128, or Crime Stoppers at (620) 227-STOP or (877) 424-4414.
