KSCB News - June 5, 2013 10:10 am

The weather is being blamed for an accident that killed a southwest Kansas man.

The accident was reported at 11:25 p.m. Tuesday on US Highway 50 in Ford County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol said a pickup truck driven by Lorren Perkins, 74, was westbound in the eastbound lanes due to weather conditions and poor visibility. Thunderstorms were reported in the area at the time. An eastbound semi slammed into Perkins’ truck.

Perkins, of Cimarron, died in the crash. The semi driver, Frank Garcia of Houston, Texas, was taken to Western Plains Hospital for treatment.
