Lehning is a Dream Teamer

KSCB News - June 5, 2009 12:00 am

An injury to Ivory Latta opened the door for Sublette’s Shalee Lehning to make the Atlanta Dream WNBA team roster. The K-State All American is on the 11 player roster after Latta was waved on Wednesday. Teams have until later Friday to finalized their rosters for the start of the 2009 season which begins Saturday. Atlanta hosts the Indiana Fever. Lehning was drafted 25th overall and has been in training camp since May 17 and played nine minutes in one preseason game. Lehning’s number five jersey is hanging in the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame in Knoxville, Tennessee. Shalee registered a Big 12 record three triple doubles this year and missed much of the late Big 12 season due to sickness. She averaged 11 points, seven rebounds, and seven assists for 25-8 Kansas State this year. The 5’9″ point guard led Sublette to back to back state championships in 2004 and 2005. Her 2,510 points at Sublette is the fourth most in Kansas girls basketball history.
