Absentee Application Deadline Approaches In Texas County

KSCB News - October 30, 2012 8:22 am

Time is almost up for registered voters in Texas County to apply for absentee ballots to be mailed to them for the 06th November 2012 Oklahoma General Election, County Election Board Secretary La Fonda F. Limon said today.

Applications for absentee ballots must be in the hands of the County Election Board no later than 5 p.m. tomorrow, Wednesday, 31st October 2012, to be processed.

For persons, who may have sent an application via fax as of Monday, 22nd October, we ask that they please contact our office as we have had some issues with our faxes being received. This situation has been resolved and we are sorry for any inconvenience that this has caused to our voters.

Any registered voter eligible to vote in the election may vote by absentee ballot without stating a reason, Limon said. Absentee voters may apply in person at the County Election Board office or they may send their applications by mail, by fax, or by telegraph.

Voters also may apply for absentee ballots for the following reasons:

— Registered voters who are physically incapacitated and voters who care for physically incapacitated persons who cannot be left unattended may apply for absentee ballots only by mail, by fax, or by telegraph.

— Registered voters who are confined to nursing homes in the county may apply only by mail, by fax, or by telegraph.

— Military personnel, residents of Texas County living overseas and the spouses and dependents of each group are entitled to vote without being registered. They may apply by mail, by e-mail, or by fax.

For more information on absentee voting, contact the County Election Board at 301 N. Main St. (Courthouse Annex) in Guymon. The telephone number is 580-338-7644. The County Election Board’s fax number is 580-338-2618.
