Liberal City Commission Sets Date For CID Public Hearing

The Liberal City Commission met Tuesday evening for their regularly scheduled meeting with one lone agenda item. This item was Resolution 2160 which would schedule a Public Hearing on creating a Community Improvement District. The City has been working with MITRA Development LLC of Wichita and Bond Counsel, Gilmore and Bell, to create a Community Improvement District for the purpose of financing a retail development in North Liberal. The purpose of the Public Hearing on October 9th will be to discuss the creation of the District, its boundaries and the imposition of the CID Sales Tax.

The general nature of the proposed project is to develop a retail center with IHOP as the prime tenant.Phase 1 will include an IHOP Restaurant, and approximately 6000 square feet of additional retail and commercial space. Phase 2 of the Project will include an additional 15,000 square feet of retail and commercial space.

The Commission voted to hold the Public Hearing on this matter on October 9th. The next regular meeting is scheduled for September 25th.
