Work On US 54 Reaches Clark County

KSCB News - July 31, 2012 8:25 am

Work has started on a resurfacing project on US-54 through Clark County. The project runs from the Meade-Clark county line to the Clark-Ford county line and ties in with work on US-54 in Ford County. Work will consist of recycling the top two inches of asphalt surface, followed by a thin asphalt overlay, in the rural sections, west and east of Minneola. Within the city limits of Minneola, road crews will mill up two inches of the asphalt surface and replace it with new asphalt.

During construction, traffic will be limited to one lane through the work zone, guided by a pilot car. Drivers can expect delays of 15 minutes or less. The Kansas DOT urges drivers to be alert, pay attention to all work zone warning signs, slow down when approaching a work zone and be prepared to stop.

KDOT expects work on this T-WORKS preservation project to be completed by the end of October, depending on weather. Heft & Sons, LLC, of Greensburg is the primary contractor on this $1.1 million project.

If you have questions on this project, you can call Joyce Muhlenbruch, Construction Engineer, at 620-227-6122, or Kirk Hutchinson KDOT Southwest Public Affairs Manager, at 1-877-550-5368 (toll free).
