Us 160 Work To Begin In Meade County

KSCB News - May 16, 2012 9:56 pm

The Kansas Department of Transportation expects work on a resurfacing project on US-160 in Meade and Clark counties to begin by Monday, May 21, weather permitting. The project runs from the US-54/US-160 junction east of Meade to the US-160/US-283 junction in Clark County and will be done in two phases??a surface recycle, followed by a chip seal to preserve and protect the roadway.

During construction, traffic will be reduced to one lane through the work zone, guided by a pilot car. Drivers can expect delays of 15 minutes or less. The Kansas DOT urges drivers to be alert, pay attention to all work zone warning signs, slow down when approaching a work zone and be prepared to stop. This project will also have a 10-foot lane width restriction due to narrow shoulders.

Dustrol Inc., of Towanda, Kansas, is the primary contractor on this approximately $1.4 million T-WORKS preservation project. KDOT expects the project to be completed by the end of July, depending on weather.

If you have questions on this project, you can call Greg Adams, Construction Engineer, at 620-624-4451, or Kirk Hutchinson, KDOT Southwest Public Affairs Manager, at 1-877-550-5368 (toll free).
