Person Of Interest Arrested In Ford County Shooting

KSCB News - February 27, 2012 3:44 pm

A man wanted as a person of interest in a shooting in Dodge City has been arrested. The shooting happened Thursday in the 500 block of Avenue P.

On Friday, Dodge City police received word that Irvin McDonald, 50, was staying at the Days Inn Motel in the 1600 block of Wyatt Earp Boulevard in Dodge City. Special operations officers arrived on scene around 10:30 p.m. and started evacuating guests in the eight rooms surrounding McDonald’s room.

A crisis negotiator tried unsuccessfully to make contact with McDonald. Officers then used a bullhorn to order McDonald out of the room. He eventually came out and was arrested. A 18-year-old woman who was in McDonald’s room was arrested on charges of aiding a felon.

Four other people connected to McDonald who were staying in nearby rooms were also arrested. The arrests were made without incident and guests were allowed to return to their rooms a short time later.

In addition to his alleged connection to last week’s shooting, McDonald also had an outstanding warrant for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and criminal possession of a firearm from an earlier incident.
