Harrison Appointed To Fill Vacant City Commission Position

KSCB News - February 23, 2012 10:01 pm

The Liberal City Commission met Thursday evening at the Rock Island Depot to interview the 11 candidates who applied for the vacant City Commission position. The position came open following the death of Commissioner Bob Carlile. Applicants were all asked the same 10 questions by City Clerk Debbie Giskie. The applicants were interviewed in the order the applications were received and included, Dave Harrison, Ron Warren, John Blackmore, Lana Gudgel, Alaina Sill, Dale Harold, Steve Leete, Lynda Sager, Steve Frazier, Jack Carlile, and Cory Barnett. Once the interview process was complete, the Commission narrowed the field to the top three candidates, and those were, Dave Harrison, Alaina Sill, and Steve Leete. The commission then voted unanimously, 4-0, to appoint Dave Harrison to the Commission. Harrison will be sworn in on Tuesday February 28th, and will hold that seat until the next election in April of 2013.
