OPSU Sets State Graduation Record

KSCB News - January 26, 2012 4:41 pm

Last fall, OPSU reported that 39.1% of its first-time, full-time freshmen graduated from the institution within six years, the highest of any regional university in Oklahoma according to figures released by the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education (OSRHE).

OSRHE recently released additional figures that focus on first-time, full-time freshmen who begin their college career at one institution within the state and then graduate from any Oklahoma university. In that category, OPSU’s statewide six-year graduation rate for the 2009-2010 academic year is 44.5%, besting the other ten regional four-year Oklahoma schools. In fact, OPSU graduated 34% more students in December 2011 than in the previous year, contributing to the less than 1% decrease in spring 2012 enrollment.

Across all campus departments, OPSU focuses on supporting students using programs and policies that help them earn a degree. Small class sizes and experienced, trained faculty members and advisors that offer individual attention as well as a bridge program that helps prepare students for collegiate-level work all contribute to the continuing rise in OPSU’s graduation rate.
