Historic Garden City Hotel To Be restored

KSCB News - January 5, 2012 3:17 pm

The Finney County Preservation Alliance has approved the sale of the historic Windsor Hotel in downtown Garden City.

The sale requires approval of senior housing tax credits for GC Windsor Developers, which plans to develop the hotel into restaurant, retail and office space. The building also would have 23 apartments for senior living.

If the tax credits are not approved, ownership of the hotel would revert to the Alliance.

The Alliance has been working since 1997 to restore the hotel. It was built in 1887 by one of Garden City’s founders, John Stevens.

The alliance also approved a part-time executive director to help promote and market of the hotel.
