Liberal City Commission Meets, Wraps Up 2011

The Liberal City Commission met Tuesday evening at 6:30 for their regularly scheduled meeting. Among the items on the agenda, the Commission dealt with several end of the year "housekeeping" items. The Commissioners approved the Budget Appropriations for the Employee Benefits Fund, Bond and Interest Fund, and the Wastewater Utility Fund. They also approved Fiscal Year 2011 Budget Transfers, Deliquent Accounts Receivable and Utilities Reclassifications, and approved the 2012 Financing Limitation for 2012 at $10 million dollars. The City Commissioners also adopted The "Garage Sale" ordinance which will limit residents to 4 Garage Salesa year, and all Garage Sales must have a permit issued by the City. The permits will be free of charge. This ordinance is aimed at curbing individuals from running home based businesses and calling them "Garage Sales". The Commission also purchased a Rhino mower from Keating Tractor in the amount of $13,761.00 ,gave permission for the Street Department to purchase an Air Compressor with the price not to exceed $13,500.00, and approved the purchase of a Spillman MDT License and Net Motion software for the Police Department in the amount of $3,562.99. The cost of the purchase will be reimbursed to the City by USD 489 and Seward County. The next regular meeting of the Liberal City Commission will be January 10, 2012.
