SWMC CEO/President Norm Lambert Resigns: UPDATE

DECEMBER 16:

LIBERAL, KS – Southwest Medical Center Board Chairman Joe Sealey began the regularly scheduled open session Thursday stating that Southwest Medical Center CEO/President Norm Lambert had a few words he wanted to say.

After thanking staff for the four and a half years he had been at SWMC, Lambert announced he would be resigning his position, effective immediately.

Lambert commented later on his decision.

“It has been my pleasure to work with all of you who are so caring and dedicated,” he said. “I wish you all the best of luck. During my four and a half years here we have accomplished many things which will last for many years. While we have lost a few physicians, we have also gained many new ones and more are on the way. The new construction will be wonderful for this whole institution and this community. Be proud of it! And thank you all for your hard work and dedication to SWMC.”

The board adjourned shortly after Lambert’s announcement, stating they would reconvene to discuss any unfinished business at 6 p.m., Monday, December 21. The board has not yet announced who will be taking over Lambert’s duties in theinterim while a new CEO is found for the local hospital.

DECEMBER 15: SWMC CEO Norm Lambert has resigned effective immediately. According to Joe Sealy, SWMC Board President, Norm Lambert submitted his resignation effective immediately at this mornings 7:00am Board Meeting. Sealy stated the Board accepted his resignation. Nancy Kletectka, Public Relations Officer with SWMC stated that " Norm Lambert will be sorely missed. He initiated several projects, like the building project, hospital renovations, veterans dinner, employee Christmas dinner and others that no one realized came under his direction." She also said The Hospital Vice-President will probably step in while the Board searches for a new CEO.
