USD 480 School Board to Vote on Redskin Field Renovations Today

KSCB News - April 26, 2009 12:00 am

The USD 480 Board of Education will have a regularly scheduled meeting at noon today at Central Office. The meeting will cover a variety of items. One of the topics that will be discussed which is an action item is the possibility of renovating Redskin Field. In the April 13 meeting the board instructed Alan Haskell to get bids on what it would cost to get a new track, renovate the bleachers, and add artificial turf to Redskin Field. The renovation was a part of the school bond that failed back on the April 7 election. The cost of the renovation of Redskin Field in the bond would have been $1.6 million. USD 480 selected a committee that heard three companies make presentations on April 21 at Central Office. The committee includes Dan Diepenbrock, Cliff Abbott, Nick Hatcher, Alan Haskell, Jerry Clay, Dewight Doud, Scott Hinkle, Don Warren, and Vernon Welch. It will be unknown until today’s meeting as to what the cost of the bids from each company are. Another action item in today’s meeting will be the possibility of purchasing trailers to put next to the high school for extra classrooms due to the shortage of classrooms at Liberal High School. The meeting is open to the public.
