Unemployment Rate Unchanged In Kansas

KSCB News - November 23, 2011 8:14 am

Kansas gained 2,300 private sector jobs in
October but it wasn’t enough to budge the state’s unemployment
rate.
The state Department of Labor reports Tuesday that the
seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 6.7 percent in October,
the same as in September, but down from the 6.9 percent of October
2010.
Six of 11 industry sectors posted gains, including professional
and businesses services, health care and social assistance. Local
government, in particular community colleges and school districts,
also gained.
Hospitality and leisure, finance and insurance, and
transportation and utilities posted losses.
State labor officials say the job growth continues to improve
incrementally. But more than 93,000 Kansas residents were out of
work in October.
