Liberal Man Arrested In Junction City

Authorities say a man wanted in connection with an attack in Liberal has been arrested in Junction City.

Geary County Undersheriff Tony Wolf says Anthony Tyrone Smith went to see his probation officer in Junction City Tuesday and that’s when the probation officer learned that Thomas had several warrants issued for his arrest out of Seward County. The probation officer called the Geary County Sheriff’s Office and deputies arrested Smith.

Capt. Patrick McClung, Public Information Officer for the Liberal Police Department, says the charges stem from a home invasion at a home in Liberal that happened on July 24, 2011. .

He says three suspects, one of them believed to be Smith, entered the house and struck the occupants with a blunt object and stole cash that was inside the home. The victims were left with minor injuries.

Captain McClung believes that Smith is a resident of Liberal. Officials could not say why Smith was meeting with a probation officer in Geary County.

Anthony Smith was arrested on Seward County District Court warrants for five counts of attempted aggravated robbery, two counts each of aggravated robbery and aggravated battery and one count each of aggravated burglary and, conspiracy to commit aggravated robbery and conspiracy to commit aggravated burglary.
