Kansas Adj. General Visits Liberal

Kansas Adjutant General Lee Tafanelli , made a stop in Liberal Monday afternoon to the Kansas National Guard Armory. Tafanelli was in Liberal to visit with the local Guard Personnel, and community leaders. An informal meet and greet took place in the Armory’s main hall,before the Adj. General asked those present to move into a classroom. Once in the classroom a brainstorming session took place with the questions being asked were, "How is the National Guard doing in Liberal","is the Guard a good community partner", "how can we better serve the community", and "what can we offer to respective recruits and employers to make the Unit more effective". After about an hour and a half, the meeting ended. The Adj. General seemed very positive with the information discussed, and is looking at coming back to discuss the suggestions in more detail. In attendance was Police Chief Al Sill, Fire Chief Kelly Kirk, Vice-Mayor Joe Denoyer, County Commissioner CJ Wettstein, Whirlwind Director Ed Poley, and several member of the Liberal Detachment of the Kansas National Guard including recruiters, and Sgt. Mike Miller.
