US Highway 83 Project North of Liberal To Begin

KSCB News - October 11, 2011 12:18 pm

The Kansas Department of Transportation expects work on US-83 north of Liberal to begin by Wednesday, October 12. The resurfacing project runs from the north city limits of Liberal to a point 9/10 mile north of the US-83/K-51 junction.

During the project, traffic will be reduced to one lane through the work zone, guided by a pilot car. Drivers can expect delays of less than 15 minutes during daylight hours. The Kansas DOT reminds drivers to pay attention when approaching a work zone, slow down and be prepared to stop.

Vance Brothers, Inc., of Kansas City, Missouri, is the primary contractor on this approximately $1.2 million project. KDOT expects the work to be completed by late October.

If you have questions regarding this resurfacing project on US-83, please contact Greg Adams, Construction Engineer in the Liberal office, at 620-624-4451; Chuck Oldaker, Area Engineer, at 620-356-1531; or Kirk Hutchinson, Southwest District Public Affairs Manager, at 620-276-3241 or (toll free) 1-877-550-5368.
