2011 KSCB Chili Cook-Off One for The Books

The 2011 KSCB Chili Cook-Off saw 16 chillis entered this year with a special Firefighters Chili Challenge. The proceeds from the day benefit Big Brothers, Big Sisters, and Whirlwind Career Counseling and Guidance Center for Veterans. A large crowd of tasters gathered at BlueBonnet park to sample the chilis, vote for their favorite, and see who the judges chose as the winners. In the Firefighters Chili Challenge sponsored by Southern Pioneer and United Wireless, The Moscow Fire Dept. took 4th place and $50.00, 3rd place and $100.00 went to the Liberal Firefighters, The Turpin Fire Dept.walked away with $150.00 and 2nd place, with the Beaver Fire Dept. taking 1st place, $200.00 and the Firefighter Chili Challenge Trophy.

In the KSCB Chili Cook-Off, The SIFE group won Best Presentation, while the Liberal Fire Department won Peoples Choice. The Mosaic Chili took 3rd Place and $50.00, SIFE won $150.00 and 2nd place, and walking away with top honors, the Dunlap Travelling Trophy, and $250.00 was the American Cancer Society Chili from Turpin. Overall the Seward County Broadcasting crew felt the event was a huge success, and would like to thank all the sponsors, volunteers, those who made donations, and all that came out to support the annual event.
