LHS Principal Says Scores Show Promise

KSCB News - September 8, 2011 6:35 am

Test scores at Liberal High School continue to climb. Test scores are still considered unofficial from last year but LHS principal Keith Adams in encouraged. During the past five years, math scores have improved 40.5 percent and reading scores improved 35.8 percent the past five years. In 2011 LHS students met AYP bench marks for every subject. Adams says they are doing things the Redskin way at LHS.

“It was fantastic news when we got the results,” Adams said. “That was the second year in a row we met AYP which for us is huge because we had been identified as a school on improvement and meeting AYP standards two years in a row means we are no longer identified as such.”

The school enters their fifth year for Capturing Kids Hearts and Avid and this is the third year of Literacy First. They also added e-time this year to support school wide reading and teacher advisory and added three more AP classes to total 12. The school motto is “Graduation Matters.”
