LHS Journalists Take Redskin Way to Desert

KSCB News - April 20, 2009 12:00 am

Twelve LHS journalism students traveled to Phoenix to participate in the JEA/NSPA Spring National High School Journalism Convention last week. In addition to attending sessions concerning various journalism-related topics and issues, students listened to keynote speaker Mary Beth Tinker discuss her experience in the Tinker vs. Des Moines Supreme Court case, reinforcing students’ first amendments rights. The students took classes in downtown Phoenix including the Cronkite School of Journalism at Arizona State. Colleges and universities including KU, K-State, USC, Ball State, Arizona State, Arizona, and others sent representatives to recruit the high school students. Liberal’s contingent returned home at 11 pm Sunday night.
