Abortion Clinics React To New Rules

KSCB News - June 22, 2011 8:12 am

A Planned Parenthood official says Kansas is
moving quickly to impose new regulations on abortion clinics, and
the rules may shut down all three in the state in July.
Planned Parenthood of Kansas and Mid-Missouri provided documents
Tuesday to The Associated Press showing that its clinic in Overland
Park was notified of new health and safety regulations earlier this
month.
Planned Parenthood President and CEO Peter Brownlie says the
state’s other two clinics have received similar letters.
The Department of Health and Environment is imposing the
regulations under a new law. One letter says KDHE will decide by
July 1 whether Planned Parenthood’s clinic will be licensed.
Brownlie says Planned Parenthood worries the licensing process
is not fair because Brownback is a strong abortion opponent.
