Six Must Wait On For Nomination To Move Forward

KSCB News - June 19, 2011 10:31 pm

Former Kansas Attorney General Steve Six
will have to wait another week to see if his bid for a federal
appeals court seat will move ahead.
The U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee stalled until next Thursday
a vote on Six’s nomination to the 10th U.S. Circuit Court of
Appeals.
Erica Chabot, spokeswoman for the judiciary committee, says the
delay came because some members wanted to debate his nomination.
Sens. Pat Roberts and Jerry Moran, both Republicans, issued
statements Wednesday night saying they would oppose the nomination
of the Democrat from Kansas. Both said they reviewed Six’s
qualifications and testimony, but gave no reason for their
decision. Roberts said he would urge his colleagues to vote against
Six.
The nomination has also been opposed by anti-abortion groups.
