Brownback To Attend All Day Prayer Rally

KSCB News - June 8, 2011 8:09 am

Gov. Sam Brownback will attend a daylong
Christian prayer rally that organizers say is designed to
strengthen the moral foundations of America.
Texas Gov. Rick Perry invited all governors in the country to
the Aug. 6 event in Houston.
Brownback’s spokeswoman says the governor will pay his own
expenses.
The event,
called The Response, is organized by the American Family
Association. On its website, Perry says America must call upon
Jesus to guide it through "unprecedented struggles."
Perry’s invitation to all the country’s governors was criticized
by the Interfaith Alliance, an organization that promotes policies
that protect religion and democracy. The group says Perry has a
right to his beliefs but should not use his public office to
promote a sectarian event.
