Cargill In Dodge City Cited By OSHA

KSCB News - May 12, 2011 8:12 am

Federal regulators have cited Cargill
Meat Solutions in Dodge City after inspectors reported finding
workplace health and safety violations at the packing plant.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration said Wednesday
it’s proposing about $176,000 in fines against Cargill. The agency
says it found two repeat and 23 serious violations that allegedly
exposed workers to hazards.
OSHA inspected the plant in November under a program that
focuses on employers with higher-than-average injury and illness
rates. Regional administrator Charles Adkins said in a news release
that many hazards at the facility existed for a long period of
time.
Cargill spokesman Michael Martin said in an email that the
company takes the allegations seriously and will address OSHA’s
concerns quickly.
